Shared SSL IP
Find what a shared SSL IP is and the way you can use one to instantly put in place an SSL certificate.
Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol used to encode the data exchanged between a hosting server and its users. The practical application of using an SSL is to secure the data that visitors submit on your site - a login page, a payment page if you run an online store, etc. Any data they type in in any box on the website shall be submitted safely to the server, so their login or payment data will be protected from being accessed by unauthorized people. Normally, an SSL certificate needs a dedicated IP address to be installed, which means the overall cost for your presence online will be bigger. While this may not be a problem for a larger company, it may matter for a non-profit organization or a small web store that does not generate big revenue if additional money should be spent. This is the key reason why we've taken advantage of an extension known as Server Name Indication (SNI) and we've made it possible to use a shared server IP address to install an SSL certificate.

Shared SSL IP in Cloud Hosting
As we offer SSL certificates with our
cloud hosting packages, you can easily secure your Internet site and use a shared IP address with only a couple of mouse clicks. The option will be available during the order procedure, therefore if you have a dedicated IP, you could use it, but if you do not have one and you don't want to pay for this type of a service, you could use the shared IP, that has been set up specifically for SSLs. The certificate will work in the same exact way as if it had a dedicated IP address and the sole difference will be that if anyone attempts to open the IP address as a URL, they'll not see your website. Given that our system includes an auto-configuration option, the SSL will be set up automatically the instant it is issued, so you shall not have to do anything on your end after you approve it. This way, you'll be able to have a secure and reliable site without spending more money for that.

Shared SSL IP in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You can use a shared IP address for an SSL obtained through us or through any other supplier with any of our
Linux semi-dedicated packages. The setup is incredibly basic and if you get the certificate from our company, you could also benefit from our SSL wizard where with just a couple of mouse clicks you could choose the SSL to be installed automatically for the specific
domain name or subdomain on the shared IP that is configured to be employed for this specific purpose. This option shall save you time and work as you will not need to do anything after you approve the SSL via e-mail, not mentioning the funds you shall save for the IP on a monthly basis. Your website will be secured and any customer will feel assured that their info shall be protected considering that using a shared IP address does not influence the adequate functioning of the certificate and the only real difference from using a dedicated one is that the IP can't be used as a URL to access your Internet site.
